The County of San Mateo Health System's Behavioral Health and Recovery Services (BHRS) Division is seeking a well-qualified individual for the position of Psychiatric Social Worker/Marriage & Family Therapist - Primary Care Interface - Spanish Speaking Required. This clinician will work in a primary care setting as a member of a collaborative multidisciplinary team which includes primary care physicians, psychiatrists, therapists and cooccurring case managers. The current vacancy is on the Primary Care Interface Team and located in Redwood City, CA, but may travel to other locations within County of San Mateo to perform duties of the job (meetings, trainings or coverage). The position will work full-time 40-hours per week schedule; and requires fluency in both English and Spanish. Psychiatric Social Workers/Marriage and Family Therapists on the Primary Care Interface Team, under general supervision, provide specialized psychiatric casework counseling and brief therapy services to either children and adolescents or mild to moderate mentally ill adults in a primary care setting; provide individual and group therapeutic counseling and case management services to clients having basic and/or severe emotional, family, and/or social adjustment problems, link clients identified as severely mentally ill to BHRS regional clinics; and if qualified may supervise graduate interns. The primary duties will include triage, mental health assessments; case management; crisis management; brief treatment (individual, family and leading groups for adults, youths and parents); and collaborating with primary care providers and outside agencies and/or schools. Clinician will also perform "Therapist of the Day" duties. The ideal candidate will possess: A current license as either a Licensed Clinical Social Worker or Marriage and Family Therapist; Solid clinical treatment, assessment, diagnostic and evaluation skills; Experience providing brief treatment to youth and adult populations (individual, group and family treatment). Experience with youth and adult populations with emotional disturbances, histories of complex trauma, disrupted attachment, substance abuse/dependence; Experience with crisis assessment and triage; Knowledge of principles, techniques and trends in counseling, psychotherapy, clinical case management, crisis management as well as evidence-based practices; Demonstrated ability working with a broad range of clients from diverse cultures, and backgrounds, and an ability to provide culturally appropriate clinical services in both Spanish and English; Experience working collaboratively with primary care, psychiatry, and school districts; Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing; Solid and timely documentation skills: assessments, progress notes, client care plans, discharge plans, etc.; Knowledge of and experience with quality improvement processes Experience using electronic health/medical record systems (eg. AVATAR, eCW, SORIAN). Experience delivering co-occurring services to adult consumers who have mental health and substance abuse problems Skill in establishing and maintaining productive working relationships with families, co-workers, other professionals, collaborative partners and the public. The ability to make sound decisions based on the exercise of judgment and the consideration of all available information. Fluency in Spanish and English is required.

SALARY: PSW/MFT I: $5,599 - $6,999/month PSW/MFT II: $6,280 - $7,850/month NOTE: The list created from this recruitment may be used to fill future vacancies, including classified, unclassified, full-time, part-time, temporary and extra-help assignments. Unclassified positions are at-will and not covered by the San Mateo County Civil Service Rules.

Examples Of Duties: Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following: Triage high volume of referrals received from Primary Care. Perform initial comprehensive assessments including diagnostic evaluation, risk assessment, behavioral symptoms, level of care needs, family history, and other information necessary to determine treatment needs. Work collaboratively with client or family to develop appropriate treatment plans. Provide crisis management. Provide brief individual, group and family counseling/therapy sessions, clinical case management, and outreach services Participate in developing individual and group treatment plans utilizing a variety of brief psychotherapeutic, psychosocial and psycho educational modalities. Coordinate client transitions into services and discharges from treatment. Complete progress notes for all services provided in client's electronic medical record according to established documentation timeline. Work as a part of a multi-disciplinary clinical team. Provide consultation and education services. Perform related duties as assigned.

Qualifications: Language Requirement: The ability to speak, read, and write fluently in both English and Spanish. Licensure/Certification: PSW I - current California registration as a Clinical Social Worker Associate (ASW). MFT I - current California Registration as a Marriage and Family Therapist intern (IMF). Individuals hired in these classifications must become licensed within three years from the date of employment as a Clinical Social Worker or Marriage and Family Therapist by the State of California. PSW-II - current California license as a Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). MFT II - current California license as a Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT). Education and Experience: Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to qualify is a Master's degree in Social Work, Social Welfare or a closely related field. Knowledge of: Current philosophy, principles, and practices for services to clients with serious mental illness; individual, group and family psychodynamics as they relate to adults or children; psychological diagnostic methods and terminology; personality development from infancy through adulthood; and human and health services systems in the County including private agencies and other community resources. Skill/Ability to: Provide treatment to adults, children or adolescents with various mental disabilities ranging from serious mental illness to dysfunctional behavior patterns, including victims of sexual or physical abuse; set realistic treatment goals and facilitate their attainment; evaluate degree of mental disability or emotional distress of patients/clients; communicate effectively orally and in writing; provide consultation and technical assistance to agencies, schools and other organizations; and work collectively within a multi-disciplinary team.
